Tony Johnson – Vice Principal Corporate Services

Tony is Vice Principal Corporate Services. He leads on recruitment and development of high-performing staff, heads of department and managers. Tony’s role also includes strategic oversight of Human Resources (HR), employee engagement and collecting staff views, health and safety, risk management and organisational development.

Tony was appointed HR Team Leader with Barnsley College in 1998. He has stayed within the HR function throughout his time at the College, progressing into senior management after roughly a decade as he became Director of HR. The scope of his role then widened into its current format. Tony is also the education inspection framework (EIF) lead for Leadership and Management.

Tony has a Master of Philosophy in History degree, deciding to enter HR after studying a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualification – and working in a number of different areas before joining the College.
